Who Is Chris Haueter?

Chris Haueter has witnessed the entire evolution of Jiu-Jitsu in America. As a member of the legendary Dirty Dozen—one of only 12 non-Brazilians to earn a black belt in the early days—he trained directly with the Gracies, the Machados, and now studies under the legendary Rickson Gracie himself.

His lineage: Trained with Rorion Gracie, Rickson Gracie, the Machado Brothers, and countless other pioneers. Now a 6th degree black belt under Rickson Gracie, Chris has seen it all—from the Gracie garage to modern sport competition.

But Chris isn't chasing belts anymore. He's chasing the Art.

His philosophy is simple but profound: "Think Street, Train Sport, Practice Art."

"Train as if you're 10 years older, not 10 years younger. This forces you to pursue the Art—pure efficiency. No wasted movement. No unnecessary effort. Just the minimum required to win."

— Chris Haueter's Training Philosophy

This wasn't just theory. Chris put it to the test. When you train like you're older, you can't rely on strength, speed, or athleticism. You're forced to find the most efficient path.

And here's the secret: The most efficient path is the Art of Jiu-Jitsu itself.

What "training older" actually means:

Every movement must be necessary — no energy wasted

Leverage replaces strength — let physics do the work

Positioning beats speed — be in the right place, don't scramble

Technique becomes invisible — maximum result, minimum effort

This is the Art of Jiu-Jitsu:

Not doing more. Doing less. Not working harder. Working smarter.

When you train 10 years older, you strip away everything unnecessary and discover pure Jiu-Jitsu.

The young guys are doing Jiu-Jitsu plus athleticism. You'll be doing just Jiu-Jitsu. And that's where the real progress is.
